Three Spires Shopping Centre management team has slipped, slopped, dunked and drenched themselves to raise more then £400 for their chosen charity St Giles Hospice at this year’s JCB Mud run.

Covering a distance of five miles, Centre Manager Lisa Prokopiou and Centre Administrator Julia Woodward successfully tackled this course of muddy mayhem which saw almost 3000 runners take part on the day.

Taking place at the JCB Estate in Staffordshire, Lisa was thrilled to have taken part on the day. She said: “This was the first time I’ve participated in the JCB Mud Run and I found it to be an exhilarating experience. The nerves were running high on the day but once Julia and I had crossed the start line, we had great fun.

“Crossing the finish line was an incredible achievement for us even though we were oozing mud everywhere. We are particularly delighted to have been able to raise money for a charity that means so much to the centre.”

Lisa and Julia encounted a variety of different terrains over the course of the Mud Run route including woods, rivers, steep inclines, peat, grass and plenty of glorious mud! Not only did they have this to contend with, there was scaling its big wall, navigating the muddy hole, climbing over cargo nets, clambering through underground pipes, scrabbling up big hay stacks and crawling across gigantic spider webs.

Julia added: “Lisa and I were a real team on the day and encouraged each other every step of the way. In the build up to the run we worked very hard to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity St Giles and we would like to thank everyone who supported us, we are well on our way to reaching our £500 target.”
